writing a book

03. How do I know I have enough knowledge to write a book? That’s an interesting question as many of us don’t know if we have enough material for a book of 150-200 pages. The answer to that question could probably come by using Malcolm Gladwell’s 10,000-hour rule. If you have spent that much time on your business or area of expertise, you definitely have enough content in you.
You probably just don’t know how to structure it and here’s where A Book in You plays a role - we help you share your SEEK and craft it into a book. But before that, our first few conversations with you will help us figure out if A Book in You does in fact exist, and is only waiting to unfold!
04. Do you have any acceptance criteria for authors? Yes. We do not accept every author who wants to publish with us. The three criteria that determine which authors we'll work or collaborate with are:
You must have extensive knowledge on not just what you SEEK (know) but also the various elements within it. This means you should have substantive knowledge to fill up each chapter of your book.
It’s essential that you believe in your book, because that’s what will get you started and keep you determined to work with us to complete it. We must also believe in your book idea and its marketability.
A Book in You does not look at Return on Investment (ROI) merely in the form of sales. We believe your book will serve as the best marketing medium for your expertise, and will give you an attractive return in the medium to long-term as long as you have realistic expectations. We do not guarantee immediate or short-term ROI.
05. From start to finish, how long does it take to publish a book? If you stay involved and work with us at our pace, we should complete the final draft and publish your book in 8 months from the date of commencement of your book writing and publishing project.
06. What if I have more than one book in me or I’m not sure about the topic of my book? This can often happen to subject-matter experts and accomplished people, who have multiple books in them. Please let us do the job of helping you clear the fog.
In our initial conversations, we will help you determine the topic or book to pursue first, and the pertinent reasons to do so.
07. What if I am already halfway through writing my book, and have most of my content in place? Would we still need to start from scratch? A Book in You would like to collaborate with you on every aspect of the book creation and marketing process.
Pre-existing content or manuscripts may lack the coherence, depth, or marketability to attain the result the potential author wants out of his or her book. We thus prefer to start afresh and work through our process and framework to develop a remarkable book.
08. How long will my book be? In a short-attention-span, digitally distracted world, we recommend that your book content be concise, clear, and compelling.
The book length depends upon you, the author and the topic of the book, however, as per our research, we suggest 150-200 pages as the right length for most nonfiction books.
the review process
01. Do I get to give feedback on the book cover design?
Yes. Before we start on the cover design, we will discuss with you your vision for the cover. You can also let us know if you have any images, references, or color preferences in mind.
Your book's initial design will be sent to you for review and upon adoption of the suggested changes, the final design will be approved.
02. What if I’m not satisfied with the book? We will do our best with multiple rounds of revisions and edits, and a beautiful cover design to create the best book possible for you. However, despite our arduous efforts, and all the edits and changes, we cannot 100% guarantee your satisfaction, happiness, or success since the content comes from your SEEK.
We believe in credibility, service excellence, and collaborative relationships, and yet we are transparent enough to admit that not every client will be completely satisfied with our efforts, despite our sincerest attempts.
your investment and book sales
01. How many books do I need to sell to recover my investment? Also do you help make the book a bestseller? Your book is an investment that will provide financial benefits in the medium to long-term. Our focus is to promote your SEEK and not make you a bestseller author or writer. The primary measure of success for your nonfiction books is growth in business, brand, income, career, or visibility.
Also, a nonfiction book can also make you a thought leader or a credible expert in your chosen field. Hence, your measure of success will not be about book sales as a measure of ROI, but the varied benefits that will come your way in the medium to long-term.
An added bonus is that if your book is used to advance or promote your business, then it is likely that the entire cost of writing, publishing and marketing the book is tax deductible. This will significantly lower your investment cost as well.
02. You offer 100% of royalties on Net Revenues (100% of Net Royalties). What does this mean? We don't take royalties from your book sales. We credit your account with 100% royalty on net revenues received by us from the sale of net copies (print, electronic, and digital formats of your book) of your book.
"Net Revenues" is the actual revenue received by us, less expenses (production or printing cost of your book), mark-ups for sales with distribution partners and/or distributors discount, and any taxes, technology fees, shipping costs, and returns costs.
"Net copies sold" means the sale, less returns, of any and all copies of your book sold by us through conventional or online channels of distribution in the book trade. It does not include promotional and review copies, remainder sales, or copies you purchase directly from us at author discount. Royalties are also not due to you for copies that we give you free of charge.
03. Can I buy or order copies of my book at a discounted price?
YES, you can buy copies of your book at the print cost. However, you will have to pay for the shipping costs, and taxes (where relevant or applicable).
A Book In You Publishing
01. What is the difference between A Book in You Publishing and traditional publishers?
Traditional publishers work largely with renowned subject-matter experts and eminent authors. It can take you a year or two to get a literary agent and then sign a book contract or deal with a publisher. And then it will likely be from six months to two years before your book is launched. So, it is an incredibly slow process before your book is published.
Traditional publishers will pay you an advance, and a small percentage of royalties received from the sales of your book. But they will owe the rights to your book. They will publish and distribute your book, and get your book into the bookstores around the world. Increasingly, authors have to do their own marketing and lack of significant marketing help is seen as a con of traditional publishing.
A Book in You Publishing works completely differently…First, we prefer you work with us before you have a manuscript. We would like to work with you from the concept stage itself. Second, we only charge for our services, while you own the rights of your book and also receive 100% of net royalties. Third, we focus on publishing your book in 8 months, and subsequently, help you in marketing your book.
02. What other services do you offer in addition to integrated book writing, publishing, and marketing? We offer a Premium Nonfiction Book Writing and Editing Service that will enable us to turn your SEEK into a final draft of your manuscript within 5 months from the date of commencement of your book writing and editing project. For more details, visit the Premium Author Services page
03. Can you work in multiple languages? We currently focus only on two languages - English and Hindi. These rank among the top four spoken languages of the world.
04. Do you offer fiction book writing and publishing service? While we have the expertise to offer fiction book writing and publishing service, at present our focus is on nonfiction books.
